Kitchen open from 12 til 8 every day!

Welcome to the Salt Barge, a traditional country pub located in Marston.

The Salt Barge was built and opened in 1861, and it is situated upon the famous Lion Salt Works opposite the museum. A history of the salt mine is illustrated throughout the top bar, coupled with an open fire, which altogether makes for a cosy drinking den. Nearby is Marbury Country Park and the Trent and Mersey canal, which boasts a direct route to the pub.

Food is served daily, from twelve ‘til eight, and includes something for everyone, from sandwiches to nibbles and homemade pies. Well behaved dogs are welcome, and a water station offers them fresh drinking water for the summer months, and in the winter there’s a surplus of fireplaces and heaters to curl up in front of.

The Salt Barge focuses heavily on local beer and regularly offers two or more varieties of ale from the local Tatton Brewery, alongside a range of local bottled beer. The guest ale offering increases throughout the summer months, and the cider offer varies seasonally but wherever possible is also entirely local.

We also hold frequent events, including performances from bands in the evening, and we also host BT, Sky, ITV & BBC sports live! The Salt Barge is the best place to watch a match with your mates.

Our opening times per each day are as follows:

Monday to Thursday: 12:00 to 23:00
